A lesbian wife and mother tries her hand at something new. Surely there is a hat that fits out there somewhere!

I Spent the Weekend with Her Monday October 12, 2009

Yup!  I’m a lucky girl.  The whole family (sans Kharma) arrived early Friday afternoon.  I heard the doorbell ring and when the door opened, there was a little girl with a fancy new haircut on my front porch.  Wait a second.  She’s only 16 months old.  She’s not technically even a toddler.  I don’t know who made those rules, but Miss Bella has broken them.  She’s running around and spinning like a whirling dervish and making ALL of the animal sounds and putting up with Baker the loudmouth and generally being professionally cute.

It was a great weekend.  We shared a yummy breakfast at our favorite local breakfast spot and went for a good, long walk that made it feel SO much like fall and watched movies at night and just enjoyed each other.  We taught Bella to call Baker “The Vizsla” (which she could actually pronounce) and Z decided to refer to Gadget exclusively as “Douglas”.  I have NO idea where this came from, but it was hilarious to me.  It probably has something to do with the fact that Z said it.  Douglas?  There is no name that is less fitting for my small, black man than Douglas.  It’s just too funny.

I guess the truth of it is that we did a bunch of stuff that might not sound like a big deal to anyone else, but sounded like home to us.
